These pages contain information about playing traditional music, mainly from Britain and Ireland, on fretted stringed instruments which are generally tuned GDAE.

That was the origiinal aim of the site, and it has grown over the years so that other tunings for some of the instruments have been included - such as CGDA for the Mandola, ADAD open tuning for the Bouzouki and a variety of tunings for the tenor banjo.
